Projects

Current projects I am working on/future projects:

Carbon Fiber Skid Plate

Senior Design Project

  • Served as a member of the ODU Carbon-Fiber Skid Plate Design Team. Designed and built a Carbon-Fiber skid plate for the ODU Baja SAE Motorsports team as well as a Drop Tower for impact testing.

  • Conducted material and structural testing for Carbon-Fiber under tension.

  • Created Carbon-Fiber coupons for testing under tension and compression.

  • Finalized materials testing/comparison from initial 3-point bending/tension.

Inverted Pendulum Project

Senior Project

The pendulum project was the experiment chosen for MAE 438. This project is provided using the Quanser Qube motor, which is a rotary servo experiment motor that is designed for teaching students control concepts relevant to real life application. This experiment, as seen below, starts as the rotary arm rotates a certain degree of theta by swing back and forth. While the rotary arm rotates, the pendulum arm swings back and forth at a certain alpha degree until it reaches full stability. The overall goal of this experiment is to balance the pendulum pole vertically at ninety degrees while the rotary arm is moving sightly back and forth at different angles of theta.

Mechanisms Windshield Wiper

Senior Project

The goal of this project is to design an effective and practical four bar mechanism that is capable of moving a windshield wiper in a specified path. The windshield wiper is responsible for clearing water and debris from the windshield so that the driver’s vision is not obscured. Different link lengths will be analyzed to determine the optimal efficiency of the windshield wiper’s debris clearing ability. Optimal efficiency can be broken into 2 categories which must be satisfied: area coverage and debris movement. Position and Velocity Analysis will be used in the determination of optimal efficiency. The mechanism will also need to be analyzed at multiple input force quantities to mimic the windshield wiper settings found in a vehicle. For the purpose of this project, a 2020 Toyota Tacoma will be used in the design process.
